Welcome to
Hampstead Garden Suburb Artists

HGS ART is a group of professional and amateur artists working or living in Hampstead Garden Suburb. It was founded, in part, in response to the closure of the Hampstead Garden Suburb Institute some years ago which left local artists without a forum at which to meet, learn and support each other.

Our members create a huge variety of paintings, drawings, jewellery, photography, textiles and ceramics. Please click on "Artists" to see numerous examples of our members' work.

As well as our successful annual Art Fair, we hold talks and arrange outings and children's workshops.

The Covid-19 pandemic meant that 2020 Art Fair had to be cancelled and other events planned for the summer could not take place either. The committee has been meeting via Zoom

Until life returns to normal, further online activities for members are planned including

"My Favourite Artwork" - 8pm on Thursday 28th January 2021
After a successful virtual meeting in December, members are once more invited to select their favourite art works and talk about each of them to fellow members. The membership secretary Mary Davis will be emailing details to members and the Zoom joining instructions will be set to all who wish to participate

We published a Lockdown Newsletter with examples of members' work created during the pandemic. (To read the Newsletter click on "Download File" below)

Of course we very much hope to hold our Art Fair in 2021 but this must depend on the state of the pandemic and the degree to which such events are permitted at that time. We have provisionally booked Fellowship House for 5th and 6th June 2021. Please keep an eye on this website for further news.

OUR ANNUAL ART FAIR
We held our first annual Art Fair at Fellowship House in the spring of 2017. We were blessed with sunny weather and surprised and gratified to welcome nearly seven hundred visitors over the two-day event.

In  no time at all the Fair has become a traditional part of Suburb life with similar numbers in 2018 and 2019. The event has been further enhanced by our association with the local branch of the military charity Combat Stress who have provided delicious cakes with tea and  coffee and, latterly, lunches as well.
