the late Alex Halfin - Sculpture
ALEX HALFIN DIED IN JULY 2017.
He was our secretary and one of our founder members, a skilled scultpor and a delightful and invaluable member of our committee. HGSArt is considering how best to commemorate him. Meanwhile we have decided to preserve his web page. I trained and worked my whole vocational working life as a Civil Engineer, helping to mould the grain of nature to serve the needs and betterment of society, often working with creative teams. Arts in their widest forms have always been a passion and inspiration to me. Much of my work has used steel, cutting, bending, beating, heating and welding, either on its own or with other materials, such as copper and wood. Clay, bronze, found objects, and ceramics work adds a further expressive dimension. The pieces I make develop from the fusion of influence of thought processes and from the nature of the materials I work with, which I endeavour to transmit some truth and aesthetic sense. |
